Description
SteelCell of North America built a high quality and efficient 176-bed detention center building in collaboration with Goldberg Group Architects. The low budget addition consists of a mixture of two-man and four-man modular cells.
The new facility substantially increased capacity without increasing the facility’s operational costs. The building’s efficiency meant there was no need to add to the existing team of 18 staff members.
The new addition solved overcrowding and saved White County $40,000 to $70,000 per month in overflow housing costs, as well as the costly process of transporting inmates to other facilities.
The facility was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, partially due to the detention units SteelCell manufactured. More than $90,000 of the initial budget was returned to White County.
Goldberg Group Architects designed the facility for future expansion to allow an additional 24 beds.
