Description
The Washington County Jail is located on fill, causing significant construction concerns. They hired SteelCell of North America to help design a low-weight 204-bed addition to the existing jail.
SteelCell was hired for its unique ability to meet the jail’s significant cost and schedule constraints. They provided modular two-man, four-man and eight-man detention cells, as well as a number of custom modular units, including:
- Modular elevated control room with a lower sally port
- Secure corridor with a secure stairway to the control room
- Electronics room for the project PLC
- Programming and multipurpose rooms
- Day-room walls
The build incorporated security openings, electrical outlets, phone preps, and infrastructure for video visitation. This divided the jail into multiple classification areas.
Using modular steel units to their full potential saved Washington County time and money. Construction was completed in June of 2014.
