Description
Oconee County built their new facility adjacent to the existing Law Enforcement Administration Center in downtown Walhalla, South Carolina.
County officials hired CGL as Project Manager, Wakefield, Beasley & Associates for architectural design, and New South Construction as Construction Manager. This qualified team managed, designed and constructed a project that fulfilled their long wish list. The county wanted state-of-the-art detention equipment on a very tight budget. This 192-bed facility includes intake, holding, housing and support services.
SteelCell of North America provided the prefabricated, rear-chase cells for this project as part of Oconee County’s cost efficient state-of-the-art facility.
A Patented Modular Control System
This was the first project that incorporated a modular control system, which SteelCell co-patented with Accurate Controls. This substantially reduced and simplified infrastructure and electrical costs. The modular controls provide a cost efficient state-of-the-art interface for monitoring the facility.
